What time is worship?

Worship begins at 11am.  Feel free to come early and enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation.  Make plans to stick around after worship and enjoy refreshments and a time of fellowship.

What is worship like?

At FCC Alexandria, we are striving to create a worship service that cannot be labeled by the prevailing terms ‘contemporary’ or ‘traditional.’ Music is an important expression of praise to God and proclamation of God’s love revealed in Jesus Christ, and no single genre can capture the variety of human responses to the Living God.  For that reason, we work to blend music of all styles into our worship time together.

Preaching at FCC-Alexandria is centered on telling and re-telling the story of God’s search for a reconciled relationship with humankind.  Together we explore the Scriptures in new and fresh ways each Sunday, experiencing the story as it is told in the Bible, and challenging ourselves to consider how the story is still being told in the lives we lead.  There are no easy answers, no how to guides, no three step strategies--what we have is a journey unique to every person, shared among this community of believers who wish to encounter the story week after week, and discover what new places it may take us.  You can listen to past Sunday sermons here.

We celebrate communion every Sunday, as is tradition for our denomination, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  The Table is open to all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives.  The Table and all it represents are at the center of our life together.

What should I wear?

You’ll find all kinds of styles at FCC on Sundays, from formal to casual. Come as you are!

Do you have child care?

Yes.  We have a Nursery and two experienced, trained Nursery Attendants who are there to provide care for children up to 2 years of age.

For older children, we have a Children’s Program that begins after the Time for Young Disciples in our worship (Children’s Sermon).  Kids spend the first part of the service with their parents; following the Time for Young Disciples, they are invited to join our volunteer teachers for a fun lesson that explores a story from the Bible.  Depending on the Sunday, they get to hear stories, make art projects, learn music, or even prepare food as they explore the lesson and what it means.

If kids or parents are more comfortable staying together during worship, we encourage them to do so.
